Terms
Last updated 25 August 2026
The agreement between you and sharewrit. It is short because the service is simple: you write documents, and we store and compile them.
The service
sharewrit is a collaborative LaTeX editor with a server-side TeX Live installation. It is in active development. Features change, and some of them will change in ways that are not backwards compatible.
Your account
You sign in with a Google or GitHub account, and you are responsible for what happens under it. One account is one person; do not share credentials. You must be old enough to hold an account with that provider where you live.
Your content stays yours
You keep every right you have in what you write. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your files, to transmit them to the collaborators you choose, to render and compile them, and — when you invoke the assistant — to send the passage you selected to the model provider so it can be edited.
That permission ends when you delete the content. We claim no right to publish, display or reuse your documents for any other purpose.
What you may not do
- —Upload content you have no right to, or content that is unlawful.
- —Attempt to escape or subvert the compile sandbox, or to reach systems or projects you were not given access to.
- —Deliberately exhaust the compile service, the relay or the API, or resell access to them.
An account doing any of these can be suspended without notice.
Limits
The service applies limits to keep it usable for everyone: on how often you can compile, on how large a project can be, and on how long a single compile may run. They are enforced by the software and they may change. Hitting one produces an explanation rather than a silent failure.
Availability
The service is provided as it stands, with no guarantee of uptime and no warranty of any kind. It can be interrupted for maintenance, and a release can introduce a fault. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose — the .zip download in the Files menu exists for exactly that, and takes a moment.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost work, lost profit or any indirect loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. We can close an account that breaks these terms. If the service itself shuts down, we will give notice and time to export before any data is destroyed.
Changes, and getting in touch
These terms will change as the service does, and the date at the top is when they last did. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it. For anything else, write to [email protected].
